Dr. G is an Associate Professor of Conversion Economics & Sustainability at NC State University. His work focuses on developing tools and knowledge to create value in both the bio- and circular economy. He has been recognized by the Brazilian Association of Pulp & Paper Technologists and granted the NC State University Faculty Scholar distinction as well as the Chancellor Innovation Award for his innovative contributions to the industry and academia. He has authored over 100 publications found in high-impact factor scientific journals and recognized trade magazines. He mentors an on-campus research group, identifying talent and inspiring innovative and high-impact projects.

Dr. Pawlak is a graduate of the College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University. Dr. Pawlak has numerous scholarly publication and has received a number of awards for his research.

Dr. Pawlak has an internationally renowned research program and has received recognitions four times by the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) for his research.  His research interests include developing structured fiber products to enhance performance and optimize economics, creation of novel products from low-value byproducts of agricultural and forestry process, and finding new applications for forest-based biomaterials. He currently teaches at both the graduate an undergraduate level with areas of expertise in paper physics, paper testing, specification development, process troubleshooting, biomaterials physics, product development, and product design.

Dr. Pawlak has industrial experience with Eastman Kodak Company and the Newark Group.  He has been an instructor for the TAPPI Hands-on Introduction to Papermaking Short Course for 15 years during that time educating more than 1,000 industry professionals.

Dr. Lokendra Pal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Forest Biomaterials at North Carolina State University. Dr. Pal brings over 14 years of industrial experience in the research and manufacturing of paper-based materials and professional expertise in managing and collaborating with industrial partners worldwide. Dr. Pal has filed 30 patent applications and been granted 10 patents. Before joining NC State, Dr. Pal spent 9 years working with Hewlett-Packard in the Media Supplies and Solutions group leading new product development and cost reduction programs.

He obtained his Ph.D. in Paper and Imaging Science and Engineering from Western Michigan University. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Black Belt and Quality System Assessment (QSA) Auditor. Dr. Pal is a member of TAPPI. His research interests are in functional coatings, smart packaging, digital/3D printing, and printed electronics. He is excited to bring inkjet technology and lean six sigma manufacturing expertise to emerging areas, such as bio-sensors printing using high-performance dispensing technology for on-demand and high precision production.

Dr. Hasan Jameel earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1975, and his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University in 1980. In 1979 he joined International Paper, where he stayed until becoming a Professor at NCSU in 1987.  He was named the Ellis Signe Olson Professor in 2001.  He is presently the Jordan family Distinguished Professor for Natural Resources Innovation.  He is also a member of the Board of Directors for Packaging Corporation of America.  He was a visiting Professor at the University of Tokyo in 1987. His professional specialties include pulping and bleaching, process optimization and simulation, and bio-energy and gasification. Recently he has been involved in developing technologies for the conversion of biomass to transportation fuels using both the thermochemical and biochemical pathways.  At NC State he teaches Pulp & Paper Unit Processes, Pulping Process Analysis and Biomass to Renewable Energy Processes.

Dr. Jameel has received numerous honors and awards for his teaching and research, including recognition as NCSU Outstanding Teacher (1990 and 2005), NCSU Alumni Distinguished Professor (1999), and CNR Outstanding Advisor (2006).  In 2005 Jameel received the Johan C.F.C. Richter Prize for outstanding contributions to the industry from the TAPPI Pulp Manufacture Division; other honors include the David Wetherhorn Award (1994), TAPPI Outstanding Instructor (1995), the Wayne Carr Best Paper Award (2002) and TAPPI Journal Outstanding Research Paper (2007).  Jameel is also a Fellow of TAPPI and the International Academy of Wood Science and a member of AIChE.  He holds five patents, has authored two books and has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers.
