Program Details for High School Teachers
Program Information
This program will engage an energetic team of high school science/CTE teachers in a professional development project funded by the USDA. Over the course of three years, teachers will learn about the bioeconomy through online courses and summer workshops in Raleigh. This program will give them the tools to share exciting lessons and introduce students to emerging career opportunities. Visit our profile page to meet the SBBP teachers.
Participants Receive
- Paid tuition for 2 graduate-level science online courses + CEUs
- Paid travel, lodging, and stipend for summer workshops at NC State
- Classroom equipment kits

Online Courses
- Fall 2018: The Sustainable Bioeconomy
- Spring 2019: Biomass Conversion Processes to Create Sustainable Products
Professional Development
- Two professional development workshops in Summers 2019 and 2020
- In addition to professional development workshops, teachers will carry out the new lessons with their students, collect data, and participate in an annual bioproducts and bioenergy career night at their high school. Visit our Resources page for bioeconomy resources for students and teachers.
