The University of British Columbia  (BioProducts Institute) is our associated research partner in the consortium. Part of the research at SAFI is supported by a USDA SunGrant project (Southern Regional Center). The SAFI Consortium is the global innovation hub on the use of alternative and sustainable fibers for a wide array of bio-based products (Fig. 2).

Proposed Plan

The plan for the four years also includes research on the use of alternative fibers for the manufacturing of packaging, textiles, and nonwoven substrates (Fig. 2 & 3). For a complete assessment, SAFI will research both the technical and business aspects.
