Assistant Professor of Outdoor Leadership – Western New Mexico University

The purpose of this position is to support the instruction and mentoring of a new undergraduate program in outdoor leadership studies. Fellow (Post Doc) – Horticulture Natural Resources – Kansas State University

The Applied Park Science Lab in the Park Management and Conservation program of the Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources is seeking a visitor use management or recreation ecology expert with experience conducting mixed methods research and GIS applications. The candidate will contribute to three projects that include research for the National Park Service, United States Forest Service, and the United States Department of Agriculture. These projects feature visitor use management and recreation ecology research designs. This individual is responsible for classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Join the Town of Apex Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department as the Volunteering & Special Events Intern this summer! This paid internship will give you hands-on experience with event planning and day-of management, volunteer coordination, and local government. The Summer Internship will focus on events such as Juneteenth Festival, National Pollinator Week, PRIDE, Olde Fashioned Fourth of July, Fireworks Frenzy, and more. Partnership Raleigh Interns gain hands-on experience in local government, business, and non-profit organizations. Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist – Blue Ridge Parkway Headquarters

As the Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist, this position serves as the Division Chief (Program Manager) for the Planning, Lands, and Compliance workgroup of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Temporary Program Assistant for EmPOWERing Mountain Food Systems & Ag Ed

This position will support the EmPOWERing Mountain Food Systems (EMFS) project and educational programs affiliated with the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) (specifically internships and apprenticeships). It will report directly to and be housed under the project director of EmPOWER project. EmPOWERing Mountain Food Systems is a federally funded grant targeted to coal impacted regions of Appalachia. Hickory, North Carolina, is a three-time All-America City on the Catawba River approximately one hour east of Asheville and one hour north of Charlotte. Emerging Leaders Summit Intern – Appalachian Trail Conservancy

This position advances ATC’s work promoting the Appalachian Trail as a place of social connection and empowerment for all people. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) has a demonstrated commitment to youth outreach and engagement and advancing the values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in outdoor recreation and public lands stewardship. Through initiatives like our annual Emerging Leaders’ Summit (ELS) and our Next Generation (NextGen) Advisory Council, we work to authentically build and empower a more diverse group of young people who care about the Trail and the personal and societal benefits of a bond with the natural world.

The Emerging Leaders’ Summit(s) is a multi-day gathering during which the ATC brings together a diverse cohort of young people ages 18-30 to connect with their peers, learn trail skills, and cultivate a shared commitment to making the outdoors a welcoming place for all to enjoy. In addition to supporting the Summit the intern will work with ATC staff on Youth and Young Adult Outreach initiatives including but not limited to the Next Generation Advisory Council. Seasonal Park Ranger Internships – Lucky Peak State Park, Boise, Idaho

Internship positions involve various skills including but not limited to:
Building and Grounds Maintenance: Maintains park facilities and grounds to ensure resource preservation and visitor safety. Including janitorial services, minor repair of facilities and equipment; lawn mowing, trimming and irrigation. Performs a variety of basic craft activities to include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and masonry. Operates and repairs vehicles, trucks, mowers, groomers, backhoes, as well as hand and power tools.

Communications Manager – Blue Ridge National Heritage Area

The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area (BRNHA) seeks a full-time Communications Manager in Asheville, North Carolina to refine and implement the organization’s brand. The position will manage an effective strategy to communicate the organization’s work to its current audience, as well as capture the interest of new audiences to partner with and support BRNHA. The candidate will create and implement a donor and sponsor communications strategy to meet the organization’s budgetary needs and track BRNHA’s promotional efforts to support programming and events. They will be responsible for the creation, production, and distribution of interactive and compelling promotional content, including a monthly partner and visitor e-news, website and social media, press releases, fact sheets, brochures, annual reports, and community updates.


Visitor Use Analyst – National Park Service, Intermountain Regional Office

This position coordinates and facilitates the development of visitor use management (VUM) plans and strategies and provides technical assistance to parks throughout the Intermountain region, which includes Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Montana. The position also serves as the principal advisor to the regional planning manager, regional leadership, and park managers on visitor use strategies and recreation management techniques needed to meet visitor experience and access goals. In these roles, the incumbent successfully integrates a variety of professional experience and disciplines related to park planning, visitor experience and resource protection, social science, transportation, and environmental impact analysis.



Assistant Recreation Center Supervisor – City of High Point Parks & Recreation Department

Performs responsible professional work supervising recreational programs and directing the operation of a neighborhood recreation center; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of a Recreation Center Supervisor. Supervision is exercised over part-time staff, volunteers, and program participants. Work schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Reporting to the Parks and Recreation Director, you’ll serve as the leader of the Community Recreation Services Division and a team member to the department’s leadership team consisting of the Assistant Director over Business Services, the Assistant Director over Park Planning and Project Development and the Culture and Community Manager.

Length of Employment: The length of employment differs among the parks, but typically lasts from the latter part of May to the first part of September. However, there are jobs that begin as early as March and may last into November. Maximum 5 months consecutively before required lay off period.

Minimum Requirements: You should be able to perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning rest rooms, operate a variety of equipment, follow written and oral instructions, perform moderately heavy labor, work under adverse weather conditions, and deal appropriately and tactfully with others. Some positions require you have or obtain a valid driver’s license, standard First-Aid and CPR certifications. You will also be required to adhere to uniform policies.
Most job duties require employees to be at least 18 years of age.



Public Lands Engagement Manager – MountainTrue

MountainTrue is seeking a Public Lands Engagement Manager. This is a full-time position (40hrs/week) that reports to the Public Lands Biologist. They are tasked with:
60% – Organizing, advocacy, and outreach to engage the public to address threats and seize opportunities to protect, invest in, and better manage local, state, and federal public lands in the region.
40% – Manage volunteers to steward public lands through activities such as non-native species control, ecological restoration, and monitoring and maintenance of trail and road infrastructure on public lands.
