Wood Basics

Drying lumber and veneer products-this is an important topic that impacts strongly the success potential of wood products businesses.  Lumber and veneer products are often degraded by stain and drying problem due to a lack of knowledge or care when converting green lumber and veneer into dried lumber and veneer products.

Our Wood Products Extension Department teaches proper dry kiln operations in our annual Dry Kiln Operators Course.  In 2014 this class will take place in Raleigh at the Hodges Wood Products Laboratory from May 13th to 16th.  The class is offered for $275 by the Southeastern Dry Kiln Club.  The link for registration form and additional information can be found on our home page.
