History and Past Events

International Symposium on Wood, Fiber and Pulping Chemistry (ISWFPC) was organized by many scientists from Europe, Japan, Canada and USA in 1980 to consolidate international conferences. The first ISWFPC was held in Stockholm in 1981, organized by STFI and co-sponsored by ACS, CPPA, EuCePa. SPCI and TAPPI. 327 scientists from 27 countries attended the Symposium. The Symposium has been held every two years around the world, rotating among the regions (Europe/Africa, Asia/ Oceana and North/South America) and we will be celebrating its 21st anniversary in Raleigh in 2021.
