This popular workshop gives yardmen, sawyers, edger operators, sales and office staff, as well as management level personnel an introduction to lumber inspection. This course is designed as an introduction and a refresher course of the NHLA Rules. 2014 UPHOLSTERY FRAME WORKSHOP

2014 STANDARDS & TESTING METHODS FOR WOOD FLOORING WORKSHOP

North Carolina State University’s Wood Products Extension will conduct the 45th Annual Hardwood Dry Kiln Operator’s Short Course at Haywood Community College in Clyde, North Carolina, July 16 – 19, 2013. The course is sponsored by the Southeastern Dry Kiln Club.  It is designed for beginners or those more experienced operators who want to stay current.  Heavy emphasis is placed on laboratory exercises.  We will dry a charge of yellow poplar lumber during the course and analyze the quality.  Haywood Community College offers excellent facilities including a small kiln in an ideal location.  There will be field trips to nearby drying facilities so operators will have an opportunity to see well run operations.  This is a hands on course – you learn by hearing, seeing, and most importantly – doing !
