SE Wildland Fire and Natural Resource Managers:

As you are aware, land management agencies and partners have been working on a National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy for the past couple of years.  A big part of the strategy entails utilizing science information to better inform our decision making and to establish a method for more easily using the vast amount of data that can inform the decisions.

The webinar is meant as introductory to give an overview to partners and agency administrators of the information compiled and analyzed by the National Science and Analysis Team.  Additionally, it will assist agencies and organizations to make a determination who may be most appropriate to participate in more in depth training on the use of the system as a management tool.  This will be better explained on the webinar, but we encourage anyone with an interest in the topic as well as anyone with responsibility to either fire/land management decision making and/or data gathering/compilation to participate.

2 hour webinar as the kickoff to NSAT data and BBN training on November 1 @ 1000 – 1200 (Eastern).

  •     5 minute – Intent of Webinar and Introduction of Cohesive Strategy***
  •   30 minutes – Cohesive Fire Strategy***

o   Main Findings of National Data***

o   Primary focus on Options and Priorities***

  •      45 minutes – Roadmap of products (NSAT approach and methodology)
  •      40 minutes – Workshop Plan (Application of the products to the Southeast)

o   Dates, locations and audience for both of the next two phases

o   Website linked to the workshops

o   Q&A

***Intended to be high level for agency and organization administrators that can briefly learn about the information to better inform who in their organization should participate in further training.

(For those who follow systems to help manage and compile data, the background system being utilized is a Bayeisan Belief Network through a Netica Application – http://www.norsys.com/netica.html – This webinar will not go in depth on the system, but it may be appropriate to have those in your organization who are familiar with it to also participate in the webinar in a support function for your group.)
