2013 Training Schedule

Kent Hanby, RF, CF, CPBM and John Stivers, RF, CF, CPBM are the instructors of the courses and workshops.

  • These courses/workshops are sponsored and funded by the Alabama Forestry Commission.
  • Who should take the CPBM Certification COURSE?  Any forest land owner, forester, wildlife biologist, consultant, contractor, or agency personnel who are interested in the use of prescribed wildland fire as a management tool and who are seeking certification should attend.  Out of state participants are welcome.
  • Who should take the CPBM recertification WORKSHOP?  Any currently Alabama Certified Prescribed Burn Manager who needs the required 6 CEU every 5 year re-certification should take the workshop.

August 5 – 8, Monday thru Thursday, Alabama Certified Prescribed Burn Manager Certification Course (4 days), Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences room 1101.  Parking is available in the parking deck across the street from the School by check in at the Parking Office in the south end of the parking deck.  To register for this Auburn COURSE send Kent Hanby an email at kent@rxfire.net including  full name, employer or land owner status, email address, phone number, and session to attend.  Registration is limited to 30.  Check in for the course will be at 7:30 am.  There is no fee for the course.  Lodging and meals are on your own.  Approximately 20 RF and SAF CFEs will be awarded for this course.

September 24 – 27, Tuesday thru Friday,  Alabama Certified Prescribed Burn Manager Certification Course (4 days), Atmore, Alabama, Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve.  To register for this Magnolia COURSE send Kent Hanby an email at kent@rxfire.net including  full name, employer or land owner status, email address, phone number, and session to attend.  Registration is limited to 30.  Check in for the course will be at 7:30 am.  There is no fee for the course.  Lodging and meals are on your own.  Travel info: http://www.pcicie.com/westminster/business_hours.html .  Approximately 20 RF and SAF CFEs will be awarded for this course.

 

September 11, Wednesday, Alabama Certified Prescribed Burn Manager Re-certification Workshop (1 day), Eufaula, AL, Lakepoint State Park Lodge.  Time 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.  Registration limited to 50.  Send email Lakepoint WORKSHOP registration to Kent Hanby at kent@rxfire.net, full name, employer or land owner status, email address, phone number, and session to attend. This workshop satisfies the CPBM 5 year 6 hour continuing education requirement.  This workshop is in conjunction with the Alabama Prescribed Fire Council Annual Meeting at Lake Point State Park lodge on Tuesday, September 11.  Approximately 6 RF and SAF CFEs will be awarded for this workshop.

September 17, Tuesday,  Alabama Certified Prescribed Burn Manager Re-certification Workshop (1 day), Time 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.  Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center (http://sdfec.auburn.edu/index.html).  Send email Dixon WORKSHOP registration to Kent Hanby at kent@rxfire.net, including full name, employer or land owner status, address, email address, phone number, and session to attend.  Registration limited to 50. This workshop satisfies the CPBM 5 year 6 hour continuing education requirement.  Approximately 6 RF and SAF CFEs will be awarded for this workshop.  Lunch will be on site at $7.50.
