NC State Student TAPPI offers much to our students

By guest blogger and TAPPI student Chapter President; Patrick Leasure

During the Fall semester, NCSU TAPPI had roaring success in terms of events and attendance. Students performed community service at Morrisville Elementary Science-Go-Round, where they taught students how to make paper and inform them about the industry. We held events such as a Movie night and a bowling night that provided social opportunities to interact with professors and other students. Along with all of this, we had a successful Pulp and Paper Foundation Meeting and tons of companies come interview for coops, internships, and full time employment.

As the final Spring semester of my college career creeps ever closer, the NCSU TAPPI chapter is going to be putting on some informational and fun events. First off, the TAPPI Student Summit will be happening over MLK weekend in Savannah, GA. This is the 100th anniversary of TAPPI and NCSU is going to make our presence known. We are currently sending 40 students on this trip and this is all made possible thanks to donations from various companies and the NCSU Pulp and Paper Foundation. Details of the trip with pictures will come in a later blog. We are also going to have an end of the year picnic and service events that will be planned in the coming week.

I would like to thank all of the officers that take time out of their schedules to plan and organize TAPPI events, Dr. Byrd for his advisement and input on TAPPI, and all of the companies that have contributed to a successful Fall semester. Without all of your help, none of this could have been made possible.
