Caitlin Burke
Caitlin started working on the wildfire project in Fall 2009, and made field visits with us to Las Vegas, NM, Flagstaff, AZ, and Kernville, CA in 2010.  She contributed to data collection, analysis, and interpretation for the resident survey and wildfire manager interviews, and was key in coordinating our team and its research activities.  Caitlin has a BS in Wildlife Science from Virginia Tech, and a PhD in Forestry and Environmental Resources from NC State, with a focus on natural resource policy and governance.  Her doctoral research examined environmental groups’ motivations for participating in collaborative forest decision-making.  Before and during graduate school, Caitlin conducted policy research and advocacy for non-profit organizations in Washington, DC and Raleigh, NC.  Her professional interests include collaborative decision-making, environmental conflict resolution, and non-profit management.  Caitlin is currently a post-doc student at NC State, working on a project related to military readiness and natural resource conservation.
