The New Normal of Jurisdictional Complexity in Wildfire Incidents

Fire Chasers team members presented new research and findings on the new normal of jurisdictional complexity in wildfire incidents at the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration Emergency Management Education Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico June 3-4, 2019.

Team members had the opportunity to tour the areas of Puerto Rico hit hardest by hurricanes Irma and Maria. During the tour, we visited Puerto Rico’s first Community Citizen Transformation Center in the community of Playita. The purpose of this facility is to provide a space for Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) to operate out of and provide immediate assistance to the community of Playita following a disaster.
